Elective/internships

At Volunteer Sri Lanka Journeys, we are proud to offer a range of elective/internship/Internship programs designed to provide valuable hands-on experience and insight into various fields. Our elective/internships/ internships cater to gap year students and high school students who are eager to explore their interests and gain practical knowledge in their chosen areas.

Our Medicine elective/internship/internship offers a comprehensive overview of hospital operations and clinical environments in Sri Lanka. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow medical professionals, observe patient care practices, and gain insight into the healthcare system. This general roster program provides a broad understanding of medical practices and procedures.

Our Nursing elective/internship allows participants to tailor their experience based on their interests and requirements. Whether aspiring to specialize in pediatric care, maternity nursing, or general nursing practices, participants will have the opportunity to observe and assist nursing professionals in various clinical settings.

The Teaching elective/internship provides participants with the opportunity to engage in classroom observation, curriculum development, and teaching assistance in local schools. Participants will work alongside experienced educators, gaining practical teaching skills and cultural insights. This program is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing careers in education or community development.

Our Social Work elective/internship focuses on community engagement, advocacy, and social welfare initiatives in Sri Lanka. Participants will collaborate with local organizations, participate in outreach programs, and contribute to community development projects. This program provides valuable experience in social work practices and fosters a deeper understanding of social issues.

Our Counseling/Psychology elective/internship offers participants the opportunity to observe and assist mental health professionals in counseling sessions, psychological assessments, and therapy sessions. Participants will gain insight into mental health practices and approaches in Sri Lanka, contributing to their understanding of psychological well-being.
